New Cowboy Series
*Excerpt follows below*
When Heaven Looks Like a Cowboy is a contemporary M/F romantic thriller with open door romantic scenes written for readers who loved Natalie's earlier contemporary western novels. While our cowboy and his lady will have a satisfying end, they won't get there without a lot of tears and heartache. Join the Murphy brothers and McCracken sisters for this cowboy/western suspense set in the small town of Heaven, Missouri.
Walker Murphy made a promise to his dad’s best friend and he intends to keep it. After Senator Conway McCracken is killed during his run for political office, Walker and his brothers make a bold move to extract McCracken’s daughters and move them out of danger. Little do they know, but their lives are about to change.
To make matters worse, the men must go their separate ways until it’s safe for the women to come back together as a family. All the while, the Murphy sisters guard government secrets that threaten an entire political powerhouse and their friends and family.
Walker accepts responsibility for Isabelle and Camilla, the youngest and oldest sisters, but when an old enemy comes to call, he must make a difficult choice even if it means saving one McCracken and losing the other.
"You've landed in a hell of a fix." Percy Pratcher dragged his forefinger across his bloodied lip. "In a minute, you get to choose one or the other. You can save the McCracken brat or Izzy, but not both."
Walker's nostrils flared as he fought against his restraints. He wanted to kill Pratcher, not because Pratcher executed the senator, but because Pratcher and his brothers had become rabid dogs. McCracken had always warned the Murphy men. This was the fate they could someday face.
"If he doesn't choose one, kill him, but first make him watch. Torture one sister in front of the other. Then swap. Then kill 'em all." Pratcher glared at Walker. "If you don't choose, I'll kill your brothers and their lovers, too. Choose, and two of you can walk away from here. You know I'm telling the truth. You know, because that's what my dad carried away from his meeting with McCracken a long time ago."
Walker growled as he yanked his arms down. "You son-of-a-bitch."
A slow grin settled on Pratcher's face. "Sounds about right. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and the sons who know why."
"I'll kill you," Walker promised, watching as Pratcher's guards ushered him to the waiting vehicle.
He slowly pivoted. "Maybe, but first you'll choose. Select Isabelle, but she won't forgive you. She'll never forgive you. Choose Camilla and you'll never forgive yourself. Either way, you've spent the first and last night in Izzy's bed."
Walker lashed out, kicking up a dusty storm as he fought to break free. If he could get his hands on Pratcher now, he'd slaughter him in front of his men.
"I see you, Walker Murphy, and I know what you're thinking, but my men are all over this valley. Your decisions—only yours—will save one McCracken and kill the other."
Walker knew he was speaking the truth. Senator McCracken and his dad once handed down a similar fate. Now, their sons and daughters were paying the price.
His heart was in his head. His temples pounded with sorrow and rage. It was the kind of agony that only certain men could understand, men who had fought endless wars, the kind of wars that left battle wounds all over their families and friends.
Walker Murphy would make a choice, but this day would never end. It would haunt him until he drew his last breath.
Pratcher pointed at the hillside as two black SUVs raced toward them. "One dies today, Walker. Lucky for you, you get to choose. Izzy or Camilla. Who will it be? The suspense is killing me."
