Blurb:

Deep in the mountain wilderness, Lucia Chavez searches for closure to her father’s death, and the mythical black cougar he sought. Drop-dead sexy Cherokee Indian guide Sam Starr knows more than he’s telling. After he saves Lucia from being swept away in a mudslide, the bath they both need turns steamy indeed. Sam and Lucia are living proof that near-death experiences can bring two people closer together—they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Amidst danger and mystery, Sam and Lucia explore the lust that burns between them. If their desire gets any stronger it could bring down the mountains. Ancient secrets hold the key to their unbridled sexual need. Was their passion written in the stars?

To celebrate their new release today, Tess wrote an article to share with us below. Take a look at Sexy is as Sexy Does!

Sexy Is As Sexy Does

What makes a man sexy? Is it that rock-hard chest? Those powerful thighs? That tight backside? Or what about chiseled cheekbones and a five o’clock shadow?

Is it physical appearance that just does it for you?

I admit to giving a man a good long look and finding him to my liking or not—physically speaking. But honestly? I never really consider a man to be sexy until I’ve spent a little time with him. It doesn’t take me long to figure out a few things about a man.

Now after I get to know a man—have spent much more time with him—I might decide he needs to go back to where he came from. LOL And that’s pretty much my history with them for sure. But what I find sexy might just surprise you.

Just because a man has movie-star good looks doesn’t mean he’s sexy to me. Those looks of his might get him an “interview”, but that’s as far as those looks will take him. Am I too picky? Well, I’ve been accused of that. LOL But I think in choosing someone to share a relationship with is where we shouldn’t stint on pickiness. I mean, after all, we worry over careers and what car to buy like there is no tomorrow. Shouldn’t we be a lot pickier over possibly sharing a life with someone?

I like a man with a sense of humor. Not the practical-joke-playing kind of humor. Not just dry or sarcastic wit. I want a well-rounded kind of sense of humor. A man who knows when and how to make me laugh. Laughter is very important to me. So a sense of humor really draws me in. It’s a sign of intelligence as well. Which is also of major importance to me.

I like it when I have to prod a man to talk about himself, too. When a man talks about his accomplishments and goals all the time, it’s a turnoff for me. He should be more concerned with knowing about me—just as I want to know more about him. It should be a mutual need and there should be balance. I don’t like blowhards. You know the kind of man I’m talking about. The kind that do nothing but try to impress you with how much they know, how much money they have, and what they’ve done in their lives. Conceit stops me cold. Bye byeeeeeeeeee…

Another thing I want to see in a man is honesty. And loyalty. Liars and backstabbers need not apply. There are plenty of them out there—on both sides of the gender fence.

Then there are things like self-confidence—just the way he carries himself. Does he walk into a room with that certain air about him or does he shuffle in taking careful measure of everything around him? I want a man with pride, too, but not one so prideful he isn’t willing to let it go in order to do the right thing.

So a sense of humor, intelligence, pride, self-confidence, honesty, and loyalty all top my list of what I find sexy in a man. If he possesses all of these character traits then chances are, regardless of how well-toned his abs are, I’m going to think he’s sexy. Sexy IS as sexy DOES.

Now I’ll admit there are some physical attributes that are a requirement for me. I prefer a man to be somewhere around six feet tall. I’ve never been physically attracted to men whose hair was any color except, dark (black, dark brown), salt ‘n’ pepper, or silver. I’m not partial to thin lips but heck, if he’s got all those character trait requirements, his lips will look downright delicious to me.

One more thing. While I consider myself to be a modern woman, when it comes to the whole male-female thing, I prefer the man to take the lead. I want him to hold the door for me, help me be seated at dinner, and kill the damn spider. If he’ll be the man, I’ll be the woman. And that, my friends, is a major turn on!

And that’s how I write my heroes. Great big ol’ Alphas who make you go mmmmmm…

Case in point—Sam Starr, a Cherokee Indian guide who lives in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. You can read all about my kind of man—and possibly yours too—in Black Cougar Curse, releasing today from Natalie Dae

Hi Tabitha,

This cover is proof of just how important a cover can be to a book. Honestly, the comments we get on this cover and how gorgeous it is are simply endless. I've had emails from readers I've never encountered, authors too, who have to tell me how gorgeous this cover is.

LOL about my article. As much as I love that buffed body on the cover of Black Cougar Curse, I require the inside to be just as pretty. lol Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hi Keta,

The story takes place in the Smoky Mtns, an area I'm pretty familiar with as I've been there several times and love it so. And I'm hoping we conveyed a little of the mtns I know in the book. Thank you for the good wishes.
